Flood alert issued for the tidal River Waveney from Ellingham to Breydon Water including Beccles Quay, Oulton Broad, Somerleyton and St Olaves
Coastal residents are being warned that some of their homes and businesses could be flooded due to heavy rain.
In a statement issued on social media, East Suffolk Council said that a flood alert has been put in place for the tidal River Waveney from Ellingham to Breydon Water including Beccles Quay, Oulton Broad, Somerleyton, St Olaves, Haddiscoe and Belton.
Residents have been advised to monitor local water levels and avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.
Suffolk is set to expect today’s wet weather conditions until tomorrow, after the Met Office extended its yellow weather warning.
Heavy rain and strong winds are expected across all of eastern and southern England until Friday evening.
