Residents living near RAF Lakenheath warned ahead of ‘active shooter exercise’
Residents living near an airbase in Suffolk have been warned ahead of an ‘active shooter exercise’.
RAF Lakenheath will be carrying out the exercise on Wednesday afternoon with delays expected at the base’s gates.
The airbase will be using a giant voice system and emergency services will be responding.
A RAF Lakenheath spokesperson said: “Active shooter exercises are routine training exercises designed to enhance readiness and safeguard base personnel and their families.”
Everyone at the base will be required to follow all instructions, including any directed lockdowns, unless in a non-play area.
The base has said the following areas will not be in play, base/NATO housing, CDC, base exchange, commissary, military clothing, shoppette, gas station and RAF Feltwell.
