Tommy Fletcher delivers knockout blow against Jiri Krejci at The O2 on Zach Parker vs John Ryder undercard
Tommy Fletcher delivered an ominous message to the cruiserweight division after extending his unbeaten record in the professional ranks to three wins from as many fights in London on Saturday night.
The 20-year-old from Hockwold cum Wilton, near Lakenheath, destroyed Jiri Krejci in the opening round of their four-round cruiserweight contest in the capital.
Fletcher, who came through the amateur ranks at Attleborough Boxing Club, landed a vicious left uppercut that took out his opponent from the Czech Republic and left him needing medical attention after hitting the canvas.
It was another timely reminder of why the Norfolk Nightmare is highly regarded in the professional ranks.
Before the fight Fletcher said he wanted to end his first year as a professional with a bang – and he did just that on his prime time slot on the BT Sport-televised Zach Parker vs John Ryder undercard.
Speaking after the first round demolition, Fletcher said: "That guy has never been stopped before tonight and I look how I put him out stone-cold in the first round.
"I'm hoping that he's safe and sound, still in good health and that he can fight again.
"That's three wins in three and three knockouts and that's by far the best knockout I've had.
"Like I said, I'm just warming to the pro game. I'm 20-years-old and I'm the future of the cruiserweight division.
"I'm going to put Norfolk on the map."
Fletcher trains at the Origin Gym in Rainham, near London, under the watch of well-respected trainers Mark and Jimmy Tibbs, who have trained the likes of Billy Joe Saunders and Dillian Whyte.
He was cheered on by hundreds of fight fans from Norfolk as he added Krejci to his growing list of scalps.
The youngster is sponsored by SD Scaffolding, NC Windows and DJD Plumbing and Heating.
