Ipswich Town vs Spurs: Jaden Philogene handed first start at Portman Road among four changes with captain Sam Morsy on the bench

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has made four changes for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur with Jaden Philogene coming in for his first home start alongside goalkeeper Jack Palmer, for whom it is a home debut.

Leif Davis, following a late illness withdrawal from the squad at Aston Villa last weekend, returns to the side but captain Sam Morsy, who had been nursing a niggle in the 1-1 draw with 10 men, is among the substitutes.

January signing Ben Godfrey takes the place of the suspended Axel Tuanzeben following that first-half red card for two yellows, while fellow recent addition Philogene is preferred to Ben Johnson.

Jack Clarke is the final of the quartet to come in, for injured January signing Julio Enciso, with the Paraguayan international having gone off with a knee issue early in the game at Villa Park.

Sammie Szmodics returns from an ankle issue on the bench for the Suffolk side but the game has come too soon for Conor Chaplin (knee) to return to the match-day squad.

Ange Postecoglou makes three changes from the 1-0 home win against Manchester United on Sunday with goalscorer James Maddison dropping to the bench with Wales international Brennan Johnson, the son of former Town striker David Johnson, given a start.

Destiny Udogie and Archie Gray come into the visitor’s defensive line in place of Pedro Porro and Ben Davies.

Spaniard Porro drops to the bench which includes former Blues loanee Dan Scarlett.

Town go into the game one place and two points off the safety mark, currently occupied by Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Spurs started the day in 12th.

A win for McKenna’s side would end a run of six games without a win and would be only a second home victory on their return to the Premier League.

Tottenham are looking to string together three league wins for the first time this season.
