Ipswich Town reportedly interested in signing Marvin Johnson from Sheffield Wednesday
Ipswich Town are reportedly interested in Sheffield Wednesday left-winger Marvin Johnson.
According to the Sheffield Star, the Blues have a ‘firm interest’ in the 33-year-old who has been at the Owls since August 2021.
Elsewhere, talkSPORT’s Alex Crook has stated that the South Yorkshire outfit have rejected an initial £1m offer as they see the versatile player as an ‘integral part of the team’.
He also said: “Movement on fee expected in the next 24-48 hours. Johnson loyal to Weds fans but ambitious to play at highest level.”
Johnson, who was out of favour at the start of the season under former boss Xisco Muñoz, has made 108 appearances for the Owls, scoring nine times.
The former Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Oxford United man, who can play as both a left-winger and a left-back, played his first minutes of this campaign on November 4 as Wednesday beat Bristol City 1-0 at Hillsborough.
Since then, and the appointment of Danny Röhl, Johnson has featured in all 12 of Wednesday’s Sky Bet Championship matches – starting nine of them.
