Ipswich Town to face Bundesliga sides Borussia Mönchengladbach and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as part of short Germany camp

Ipswich Town are set to travel back out to Europe next month to take on two Bundesliga opponents as part of a short camp in Germany as their pre-season preparations for the 2024/25 Premier League season ramp up.

Kieran McKenna’s newly-promoted side will first face Borussia Monchengladbach at the ATS Sportpark in Heimstetten, on the outskirts of Munich, on Friday, August 2 which will kick off at 2.30pm in Germany (1.30pm UK time).

The following day, the Blues will go up against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim at the Kufstein Arena, to the south of Munich and near to the German border in Austria, with the game kicking off at 1.30pm in Austria (12.30pm UK time).

Both games are set to open to supporters, with full information due to be released by Town in due course.

While Borussia Monchengladbach ended up 14th in the German top flight last season, Hoffenheim qualified for the Europa League by finishing seventh.

The games with Gladbach and Hoffenheim will come after Town have returned from a week-long training camp in Austria that will end with a match against Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk on Saturday, July 20.

The Blues now have three German teams on their pre-season schedule with Portman Road set to host Fortuna Düsseldorf – who have become an unofficial sister club – on Saturday, July 27 (3pm). Full ticket details for that fixture have been released by the club this week and can be found here.

Town’s eagerly-anticipated Premier League return comes on Saturday, August 18 when they host Liverpool in a 12.30pm televised kick-off on TNT Sports.

Record shirt sales

Meanwhile, the club have revealed that the new home and away kits that were released on Saturday have become the fastest selling in their history.

As of Wednesday, more than 15,000 shirts had been sold while more than 9,000 orders have been placed online, with a significant number of these already processed and dispatched and the rest to follow in the coming days.

The club said: “Supporters should note that, during busy periods, it can take between 5-7 working days for orders to be dispatched and 7-10 working days for any orders including shirt personalisation. This includes Premier League sleeve patches.”
