Ipswich Town academy manager Dean Wright departs
Ipswich Town are looking for a new academy manager after revealing Dean Wright’s departure from the role by mutual consent.
Wright joined the Suffolk club from his previous role as head of academy coaching at East Anglian rivals Norwich City in July 2022.
He took over Town’s academy manager job at Playford Road from Lee O’Neill.
But the club have revealed he has decided to move on ahead of Town’s Premier League return, with our media partners TWTD understanding he and his family are keen to move back to their native north.
He started his professional career with Bury in Greater Manchester back in 2010 before moving to Huddersfield and relocating to East Anglian with Norwich City in April, 2017.
A statement read: “The club can confirm that academy manager Dean Wright has chosen to leave his role by mutual consent.
“Dean joined the Blues in the summer of 2022 and has played a leading role in the development of the club's academy during his two years in Suffolk.
“Dean will always be welcome at Portman Road, with the club thanking him for his hard work and commitment during his time at Town and wishing him well for the future.”
It comes after the Blues have revealed their intention to upgrade the club’s academy to earn Category One status to avoid losing talented players to bigger clubs.
