Ipswich Town's American takeover reportedly hits the buffers
A deal that would see an American consortium take charge of Ipswich Town has reportedly stalled.
Despite current owner Marcus Evans playing down the notion, recent speculation had claimed that a group involving USL club Phoenix Rising's Brett Johnson were in discussions to purchase the Tractor Boys.
Indeed, earlier this month research carried out by Paul Munnings – a commercial property associate at Ipswich-based solicitors Prettys – hinted that it was only a matter of time before things were rubber stamped.
However, according to TWTD, the talks have now run into trouble and while an agreement may still yet be reached, it is much less likely to go through than it was in February.
Walsham-le-Willows-raised businessman Evans took control of Ipswich back in 2007, and has stated on a number of occasions he will only sell up if the deal is right for the club.
