Referee Darren Drysdale sorry for locking heads with Ipswich Town midfielder Alan Judge
Referee Darren Drysdale has apologised for his conduct during the closing stages of Ipswich Town's 0-0 draw with Northampton Town last night.
After penalising Alan Judge for simulation inside the Northampton penalty area, it appeared that Drysdale locked heads with the Ipswich midfielder.
In a statement released via Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), Drysdale said: "I can only apologise to Alan and Ipswich Town.
"I fully understand it is important for us as referees to maintain our composure throughout the game and always engage with players in a professional manner. I'm sorry that I did not do that."
The PGMOL also confirmed the incident is being investigated by the Football Association.
