Ipswich Town manager Paul Cook should refrain from making changes for Sheffield Wednesday fixture

However you do it, just win. Those were the words I ended last week’s article with, and I’m so delighted to be writing this column after a Town victory.

A victory which showed guts, determination and some quality passages of play.

Speaking of which, Macauley Bonne has been sensational in leading the line and as we have come to expect he took his opportunity and scored a fantastic header.

The goal had movement and an incredible ball into the box from Hayden Coulson. I spoke about the goal reminding me of Clapham to Scowcroft type vibes on the YouTube Fans Live reaction show.

I’ve read in some Lincoln quarters that they feel the goal should have been ruled out for a foul on the Lincoln defender, but even as a fully paid-up member of the defenders’ union, I find this total nonsense.

The defender simply didn’t want it enough whereas Bonne was hungry and he certainly is playing with the eye of the tiger right now.

On Saturday, we showed encouraging signs and I certainly hope this can be a foundation on which the story of Ipswich under Gamechanger 20, Mark Ashton and Paul Cook can be built.

We entertain Sheffield Wednesday at home on Saturday and Cook enters that territory as a manger where if goalkeeper Christian Walton is fit, do you change a winning side?

For me, after going so long without a win you simply could not and should not change it.

Hladky came in last Saturday, by all accounts at last minute due to our loanee’s training injury, and performed well. He held everything and had his best game in a Town, keeping a clean sheet in the process.

My advice this week to Cookie is: rinse and repeat. Same 11, same formation, same style of play.

If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it, regardless of who may be fit and ready to return.
