Ipswich Town column: Tractor Boys need to get busy off the football pitch and looking forward to Maidstone United FA Cup tie

Unlike our neighbours, I'm not usually one for celebrating draws, but after Jeremy Sarmiento's strike hit the back of the net on Monday, it sent myself and 3,000 other Blues fans into absolute pandemonium.

Town deserved the point and should be proud of how they really took the game to The Foxes in the second 45, after a shaky first period.

We were brave, robust and created more than enough chances to get ourselves back in the game and thankfully Sarmiento was on hand to do just that, who was impressive yet again.

The Ecuadorian looked bright when he came on and getting off the mark early can only be a positive for both himself and the club. I think this is the start of a really positive loan spell for 'Jezza' and after all he is magic, you know.

One thing I did take from Monday is how important the remaining days of this January transfer window really are.

Town made a good account of themselves at the King Power on Monday, but I couldn't help but feel how much more we could achieve if we had some extra added quality at the top end of the pitch.

Now this is by no means an attack on Kayden Jackson, who has done well since being asked to fill the void of George Hirst, but I think we all know that department has to be a priority and I genuinely believe if we get the right man in, we have a serious chance of keeping our spot within the top two.

It's been a bizarre window really and one of the quietest markets we've seen for a while. Which I don't think has helped Mark Ashton and co.

But this is a serious opportunity for Ipswich Town and in my opinion far bigger than the infamous '2014/15' transfer window which often gets talked about.

Get it right, then Town have a chance. But leave ourselves short and the league table will reflect so.

Of course, Town have done remarkably to be in this position, but now we're here, we want to stay and for me, that all rides on what we do off the pitch in these next few days.

On the pitch - Town welcome Maidstone to Portman Road on Saturday for an FA Cup tie I'm really looking forward to.

Obviously, Town will be favourites and anything but a victory is to be expected come Saturday afternoon, but I think we should embrace the magnificent journey Maidstone have been on to get to this position and I hope the Portman Road attendance reflects that.

George Elokobi and his team will be dreaming of an upset and you know what, good luck to them. I have nothing but respect for their club and supporters.

But this Kieran McKenna team are built different and you can't help but feel confident that Saturday afternoon is going to be a positive one at Portman Road.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Maidstone have to offer, but I'm especially excited to see the likes of Jeremy Sarmiento and Omari Hutchinson shine, with both likely to play from the start.

So let's enjoy the day, respect our visitors, but hope it's Town who are in the hat for the next round and the nation watching on BBC get to see what 1978's FA Cup winners look like now.
