Ipswich Town column: A win at last and Blues are a better team with Welsh wizard Nathan Broadhead in

Wednesday brought a feeling Town fans have missed for far too long – a victory! And a deserved one too.

After 17 days off, a trip to face Bournemouth certainly wasn’t the easiest for Town to come back into.

But they showed up and won in a way we haven’t seen enough of this season: resolutely.

I’ve really missed that feeling of seeing your team win. I think we as fans deserved that, but the players too. It’s no doubt been a tough ride for them, but I was really pleased for them too.

Despite the impressive victory on the south coast, sadly I still can’t see a way where Town claw themselves out of this position.

Tomorrow’s home match with Wolves feels huge, but we’re still six points adrift even if we win that.

I think we just have to concentrate on ourselves for now. Too little, too late? Probably. But these eight remaining games at least gives us a chance to rebuild some positivity and take that with us into next season.

I’m really looking forward to tomorrow, though. I’d love to watch Town go and put on a show at Portman Road, and Wednesday’s victory will only help with that.

It’s funny how three of our four wins have come away from home. I really wouldn’t have seen that before the season, but I’m desperate to see us do something at Portman Road now, regardless of what impact that may have on the bigger picture.

One player I wanted to point out from Wednesday was Nathan Broadhead. I was so pleased for him. A popular goalscorer and a popular player.

I love watching him play and to be honest, I think Town are a better side with him in it.

Again, whatever happens this season, I hope he’s in a Town shirt for the next.

A big victory. A big opportunity? Let’s see. I really hope Kieran McKenna and his team can give us something to shout about on home soil this weekend.
