Ipswich Town add Gary Roberts to Paul Cook's coaching staff
Former Ipswich Town winger Gary Roberts has returned to the club as part of new manager Paul Cook's coaching team.
The 36-year-old, who made 59 appearances for Town after joining in 2006, has taken on the role of first-team coach alongside Matt Gill, while Jimmy Walker will remain goalkeeping coach.
Roberts knows Cook well, having played under him at Chesterfield, Portsmouth and Wigan Athletic – winning promotion at each of those clubs.
Cook told the club's website: “I’ve worked with Gary before and we are both looking forward to meeting up with all the other staff at Ipswich and working together to give us the best possible chance of winning promotion this season."
Roberts had most recently been playing for Town's opponents this evening – Accrington Stanley – on a short-term deal.
