Well wishes pour in for Ipswich Town stalwart Simon Milton after medical emergency during match against AFC Bournemouth
Well wishes have come pouring in for an Ipswich Town stalwart after he suffered a medical emergency during a match.
Former centre-midfielder Simon Milton, 61, was rushed to hospital after being taken unwell in the directors’ box when the Tractor Boys faced off against AFC Bournemouth at Portman Road yesterday.
Mr Milton, who was working in matchday hospitality alongside other former players, was released from hospital last night to recover.
A statement by Ipswich Town Football Club said: “Simon is now stable and communicating.
“He is in good spirits and will head home to rest.
“He would like to thank the first responders at Portman Road and those that have passed on their best wishes.
“At this time we ask everyone to respect the privacy of Simon and his family.”
AFC Bournemouth also issued a statement, wishing Mr Milton the best.
Various Blues fans have also offered Mr Milton their sympathies on X (formerly Twitter).
One fan said: “Speedy recovery, Milts.”
Matt Stannard, of Bury St Edmunds, posted: “All the best Simon and wishing you a speedy recovery.”
Gina Long, from the charity GeeWizz, said: “This is sad news. Simon is such a great man and on so many levels.
“Hoping Milts gets better very soon soon.”
Another Blues fan said: “Wishing Sims [sic] a full and speedy recovery.
“It’s heartwarming to see the football community rallying around him—testament to the respect and love he’s earned over the years.
“Stay strong, Simon; your resilience will see you through this. Thoughts are with you and your family during this time.”
