Ipswich Town supporters will get access to watch live matches after EFL and Sky link up
Ipswich Town season ticket holders will receive free access to iFollow’s live streaming of the club’s home League One games in 2020/21 while matches are played behind closed doors or in front of reduced crowds.
The move is part of an agreement between Sky Sports and the EFL to ensure games are either broadcast live or available for streaming while the impact of Covid-19 continues.
Match passes priced at £10 will be available for non season ticket holders to watch live streaming of home league games, while live coverage of away matches will be available to all supporters at the £10 price providing the game is not being broadcast live on Sky.
The agreement between Sky and the EFL is a temporary measure to help combat the challenges faced by clubs in bringing live football to supporters and will be subject to regular review, with the ‘free access’ offer to season ticket holders only applying to those who have purchased a season ticket before October 4.
EFL chief executive David Baldwin said: “There is no argument that attending live matches is what the League, its clubs and fans want to see and, clearly, the overriding objective is to get supporters back into stadiums as soon as it is safe to do so.
“In the meantime, this framework allows our clubs, if they so wish, to reward their most loyal supporters by providing what we hope is only short-term access to watch their matches.
“It’s important that whilst the doors remain fully, or part shut, we ensure there is the ability for fans of all EFL clubs to be able to gain access and watch their team and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sky Sports for their support in this matter.
“Collectively, it’s not our preferred situation but given the circumstances Covid has presented us it gives us a temporary option whilst we finalise our plans for fans returning.”
Town’s Carabao Cup first round tie against Bristol Rovers on Saturday, September 5 will also be available live on iFollow at £10.
No cup games are included in the ‘free access’ offer to season ticket holders.
