Ipswich Town forward Conor Chaplin PFA Vertu Motors Fans' player of the month for September

Ipswich Town forward Conor Chaplin has been named the League One player of the month for September.

The 25-year-old has scooped the award for the second time this season, having been named the PFA Vertu Motors Fans' player of the month for August.

Chaplin featured in every game for Town in September, scoring three times.

"It's pleasing to receive votes again and I appreciate the support," said the Town forward after receiving the award.

"The goals don't come from one person so it's important that the team is recognised. I've probably scored one goal that was just 'me' this season and that was the free-kick against Barnsley. All of the others come from the team working together.

"Fingers crossed I can keep contributing and helping the team. We're all looking forward to Lincoln this weekend, so we'll give it everything to put in a good performance and get three points in front of our fans."

Town are expected to be backed by another bumper crowd against Lincoln at Portman Road tomorrow (3pm).

Over 27,000 tickets have already been sold, and they are still available to buy.

The Blues will pay tribute to former manager John Duncan, who died aged 73 last weekend.

Players will wear black armbands, while a minute's applause will also take place to honour the legendary manager.
