How Ipswich will celebrate the coronation of King Charles III and Camilla, featuring activities on the Cornhill
Two days of events have been announced to allow residents of Ipswich to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.
Ipswich Borough Council has revealed a number of activities that will be present on the Cornhill during the bank holiday weekend, May 6 and 7.
This includes a big screen – previously used to show the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II – which will broadcast the coronation of Charles and Camilla, which starts at 10am on May 6.
In addition, from 11am to 4am, face-painting will be available for children and various food stalls will also be present.
After the coronation ends, at 2pm, the screen outside the Town Hall will then broadcast Roald Dahl's Matilda.
A spokesperson for Ipswich Borough Council revealed the Cornhill will be decorated with buntings to mark the occasion.
The festivities continue into Sunday, May 7, from 3.30pm, the authority said, with the Windsor Castle evening concert being live-streamed.

The spokesperson added: “Ipswich Borough Council is thrilled to support community events over the special May bank holiday weekend to celebrate the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
"We are encouraging the community to get involved with our events, but we’re also inviting the public to hold events in their neighbourhood to bring everyone together for the celebrations.”
Street parties will also take place in the area during the bank holiday weekend, including in Elmsett, Rushmere St Andrew and Salmett Close in the town.
