Thunderstorms to hit Suffolk as yellow weather warning issued from Wednesday until Friday
Thunderstorms are set to descend on the county later this week, with residents warned of possible travel disruption and flooding.
A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office from Wednesday evening until Friday morning, covering much of the country, including all of Suffolk.
Temperatures in Suffolk are expected to reach highs of 23 degrees over this period, falling to 18 degrees on Friday.
The Met Office warned that there is a 'small chance' that homes and businesses could become flooded quickly. It also said buildings could be damaged by floodwater, lightning hail and strong winds.
"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services," a spokesman said.
"Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
"There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads.
"There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."
