The store in Martlesham is one of four others opening this year in England, including in Oldham, Lichfield and Broadgate in the City of London.

Grace Barrett, Waterstones Martlesham manager, said her and the team were 'really excited' to be opening the new store.

"We have a great team combined of experienced and new booksellers who can't wait to meet our new customers," she said.

"We will have everything from colourful children's books and board games to enticing fiction and a range of non fiction titles.

"To celebrate this exciting shop opening, Waterstones Plus members can enjoy our Double Stamps offer across our opening weekend."

Kate Skipper, Waterstones' chief operating officer, said: “Following the successful opening of new locations in 2021, we are delighted to announce the opening of three further new shops, as we continue to bring new bookshops to more areas of the country.

"We can’t wait to open our doors to customers and to establish the new shops as cultural and social hubs within their local communities.

"We will also continue to invest in our existing shops in 2022, as we seek to serve the reading boom which has seen more and more readers seek solace from the page, away from the glare of their omni-present screens."

The Waterstone's store in Martlesham is opening in partnership with Next.
