Ipswich Rushmere Heath fire: Aerial video shows the extent of the blaze
Aerial shots have shown the extent of a huge fire that took hold on a Suffolk heath yesterday.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at Rushmere Heath in Ipswich at 5.40pm.
Six crews at the scene including two from Ipswich East, one from Woodbridge and one from Needham Market, battled the blaze.
Video from Princes Street Fire Station shows the fire, which spread to an area of 100m x 150m, before firefighters arrived at the scene.
Yesterday, station manager Andy Message said the plume of smoke was so large that fire control received 147 calls as it could be seen from some distance away.
Crews left the scene shortly before 9pm.
