Man arrested in connection with aggravated burglary incident in Ipswich where woman suffered stab wounds




A man has been arrested today, in connection with a suspected aggravated burglary in Ipswich yesterday afternoon – in which a woman sustained stab wounds.

Suffolk Police were called out to Admiral Road in Pinewood just before 4.55pm on Saturday, following a report that a woman had discovered an unknown male in her home.

The victim, who is aged in her 40s, was upstairs when she heard a noise and went to investigate – at which point she discovered the man, who then stabbed her, before he fled the scene, via the recreation ground.

A knife was also recovered close to the scene of the incident.

The woman was taken to hospital to receive treatment for her injuries, and subsequently discharged later that day.

Today, Suffolk Police confirmed that a man aged in his 20s had been arrested, on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

The suspect has been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre, where he will be questioned by detectives.

Upon arrival at the scene on Saturday, police officers were approached by a member of the public, who reported that he had also been the victim of an attempted robbery in Ellenbrook Park a short time earlier.

During this incident, an unknown male – who was reportedly carrying a knife – approached the man, and attempted to steal his phone and wallet, before running off.

Suffolk Police are continuing to investigate and, at this time, believe the incidents are linked.

Officers are conducting enquiries to locate the suspect, and are asking for anyone with information to come forward, with residents urged to check their CCTV for footage that may assist the investigation.
