An Ipswich shopping centre has been sold for £3.02m – just a fraction over its asking price.
Sailmakers, in Tavern Street, was put up for sale last Thursday by auctioneers Allsop.
The centre, which spreads over nearly 8,040sqm, went under the hammer in an online auction yesterday with a guide price of £3m.
It is occupied by retailers such as River Island, Poundland and Bodycare.
The sale comes after plans to convert vacant retail space on the first and second floors into flats were approved at the beginning of March.
The plans were submitted by the shopping centre’s owner ALB last month and will see 14 one-bed flats, six two-bed flats and six studio flats spread across both floors.
