Medway Road and Severn Road, Ipswich, targeted in spate of early morning thefts with three Mercedes AMGs stolen from property driveways




Three sports vehicles were stolen from the driveways of properties in a town early this morning.

Two of the vehicles, a red and a white Mercedes AMG, were taken from homes in Medway Road, Ipswich, whilst the third was in Severn Road, where a black Mercedes AMG was stolen.

The former thefts both happened at around 3.45am, with CCTV footage capturing two people in the area at around 2.10am.

Two suspects, both male with their features obscured, gained entry to a white Mercedes AMG on a driveway before driving off with the stolen vehicle.

The latter theft happened at around 4.10am. CCTV footage captured sight of a person near the area around this time, and the vehicle was seen leaving the driveway at around 4.15am.

The thefts all happened without the keys of the vehicles. Severn Road and Medway Road are joined.

PC Donna Jackson said: “We urge people to ensure they keep their vehicles locked. If your vehicle has an electronic key do not keep it near your front door or windows as criminals can scan it and transmit the code to open the car and start it.

“We also recommend using a Faraday Pouch or and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) blocker to block the signal whilst your keys are indoors if you are able to.”

Officers believe the three incidents may be linked and are asking anyone that may have witnessed the incident, has relevant CCTV or video-doorbell footage, or anyone with a dash-camera that was driving in the area, to contact police, quoting the relevant crime reference numbers:

• Black Mercedes AMG – 37/17161/24
