East of England Ambulance Service’s new 24/7 hub in The Havens, Ipswich, set to launch in 2025

Construction work is set to begin on a new 24/7 ambulance hub in Ipswich in the coming months with the aim of launching next year.

On April 24, Ipswich Borough Council (IBC)’s planning and development committee approved the East of England Ambulance Service’s proposals to build the new state-of-the-art complex on land off The Havens.

When built, the hub, expected to cost about £10 million, will support 100 staff and house a workshop to restock and clean vehicles while helping keep more on the road.

Also included will be welfare spaces where staff can relax, an outside gym, quiet spaces, and a wellbeing garden.

Jemma Varela, head of clinical operations at the East of England Ambulance Service, said the complex should help improve service to patients in Ipswich and the surrounding area.

She added: "Work will start on-site as soon as August and we are aiming to officially launch in September 2025."
