This is when lane closure in Bramford Road, Ipswich, will be lifted for Christmas as part of Europa Way link road project

Temporary traffic restrictions which form part of a project to build a new link road in Ipswich are set to be lifted later this month for Christmas.

Suffolk Highways has confirmed that a single lane closure on Bramford Road will be removed ‘no later’ than Monday, December 23.

This will allow traffic to flow in both directions in a bid to minimise disruption over the festive period.

However, a spokeswoman for Suffolk Highways said temporary traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing will remain in place for safety reasons.

It is expected that the lane closure will be in place again from Monday, January 6.

However, the spokeswoman has confirmed that a full road closure is expected in Bramford Road ‘for a short period’ to carry out work.

This has been pencilled in for Monday, January 20, although the date will be confirmed after the new year.

Work has been ongoing to build a new link road connecting Bramford Road to Europa Way since September.

The project is planned to last until April, by which time the two will have been connected by a roundabout.

The scheme aims to increase connectivity between Bramford Road and Sproughton Road.

Suffolk County Council hoped this would ease congestion in the area, which can get busy during peak hours, while mitigating traffic through residential streets.
