Some of the quirkiest things to see and do on day one of The Suffolk Show 2022
The Suffolk Show has returned to Trinity Park in Ipswich today to celebrate the county's roots in farming and agriculture after a two year hiatus.
While the classic elements of the show, the showjumping, cattle judging, farm machinery and food stalls, are all back and entertaining the crowds, there are also some more unexpected things to see and do in the park.
Here's a list of some of the quirkiest events at The Suffolk Show 2022:
Jive dancing
If you're looking for something a bit different to keep you entertained at this year's event, look no further, as a jive dance group entertain audiences outside the Flower and Garden tent.
Getting into the Jubilee spirit, the troupe wore red white and blue and danced in front of a giant union jack flag accompanied by tunes from Elvis Presley.
This quirky and fun performance is sure to get some toes tapping and the stage is surrounded by chairs and tables so it is the perfect place to stop and take in the atmosphere.
Mascot Derby
Kicking off at 3.30pm, mascots from Ipswich Town Football Club, Bluey and Crazee, took part in the derby.
The gang ran in the President's Ring and leapt over haybales to the sound of audience cheers and applause.
Other mascots represented organisations including SARS and Morrisons.
Shetland Pony Grand National
The Shetland Pony Grand National kicked off at 4pm in the President's Ring.
Ponies and their riders were seen racing and jumping over miniature jumps to the sound of roars from the audience.
A favourite with the children, this cute and quirky race was not to be missed.
Horse and carriage riders
A slightly quirkier sight in the Trinity Ring came in the form of horse and carriage riders.
This fun event made a change from the classic showjumping and judging of the day and drew in intrigued crowds.
Farriers at work
Opposite the President's Ring, farriers showed off their skills in making and fitting horse shoes.
Crowds swarmed to watch these highly skilled professionals demonstrate the changing process.
