Red Rose Chain actors with learning disabilities set to perform show they created at Avenue Theatre Ipswich




After almost three years and a pandemic that postponed their first performance, a company of young actors with learning disabilities - are excited to performing at The Avenue Theatre in Ipswich, this October.

The Nightingale, is a play for audiences of young people with disabilities and their families and has been created by the Red Rose Chain Gold Chainers.

Jo Carrick, Red Rose Chain's Artistic Director, Jo Carrick said: "The Nightingale is an extraordinary project working with learning disabled actors, supported by Arts Council England.

" The young people have been centrally involved in every aspect of the process from song writing, creating characters, designing the set and the costumes, making the props, recording voice overs and soundscapes, collaborating on choreography and developing interactive sensory elements as well as designing publicity materials and videos describing the piece."

The play promises to push 'boundaries and expectations' and audiences will be able to watch it at The Avenue Theatre, in Gippeswyk Avenue, on Saturday October 15 at 7pm and at 1.30pm and 4.30pm on Sunday, October 16.

Full price tickets for the show, which is set to 'delight and astonish' will cost £12 and concession tickets will be £5.
