Taco Bell plans could be approved for Anglia Park in Ipswich

Taco Bell could soon come to Ipswich as a council looks set to approve a planning application next week.

The US-based fast food chain will be taking over Carphone Warehouse's former unit at Anglia Retail Park in Whitehouse.

It will share this park with other giants such as Tim Hortons, KFC, and Costa Coffee, and will be located opposite the Asda complex.

According to the planning application, there has been a recommendation for approval provided certain conditions are met.

The applicant will need to provide a parking layout for powered two-wheel vehicles and electric vehicle charging points to be provided before first use.

It also specifies there must be future provision for further charging points and access parking for cyclists and plans to plant trees for carbon mitigation.

It must also give details for plans to place litter bins, external lighting and CCTV before it opens.

The lot the restaurant will fill has been vacant since Carphone Warehouse left the site last December.

The site is not subject to any specific designations or constraints, the application says, and it is felt the chain could 'supplement' the existing food and drink services at the park.

The Ipswich Borough Council planning meeting that should see its approval will be held next Wednesday.

The site is currently owned by the council-owned Ipswich Borough Assets, which bought the park in 2017 for £24m.

A Taco Bell restaurant is already located at the RAF base in Lakenheath.
