Ipswich named seventh-best place to park in UK according to loan company Moneybarn

Ipswich has been ranked as one of the best places for parking in the UK.

It is one of three towns or cities in the East of England to make the list, clocking in seventh place, with 20.46 parking spaces per 1000 registered cars.

This is according to a report by car finance and loan company Moneybarn.

It shares a slot in the top ten with Colchester and Cambridge.

While it didn't make the list, Chelmsford was voted the cheapest place to park in the UK.

Cambridge, which was second on the list, is also among the most expensive places to park in the UK, at an average of £7.75 per hour.

The report says that car ownership is becoming more attractive as public transport links weaken and become more expensive.

Ipswich Borough Council runs several short and long-term stay car parks in the town centre.

Season passes are also available for people using them regularly, and many have motorcycle and bicycle parking and electric vehicle charging.

The largest of these is the Portman Road car parks near the football stadium.
