Suffolk Show in Ipswich set to be 'best yet' after two-year break, organisers say as official countdown begins
One of Suffolk's biggest events is set to return in fewer than 100 days after a two-year break due to the Covid pandemic.
The Suffolk Show will be back for 2022 on Tuesday, May 31 and Wednesday, June 1 with a unique celebration for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, alongside a packed schedule of new attractions and fun activities.
Organisers, the Suffolk Agricultural Association, are eager to welcome visitors back to Trinity Park in Ipswich for what they say will be 'the best show yet' after a two-year absence.
Bruce Kerr, Suffolk Show director, said: “After a two-year wait, we are incredibly excited to launch the official countdown to this year’s Suffolk Show, especially in this commemorative year for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
“Our team of volunteers have all been working hard behind the scenes to make sure these are two spectacular days out for everyone, offering great value for money with free activities and interactive exhibits that visitors have come to expect.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors from across East Anglia and beyond as we celebrate all that makes our county great."
With the event set to be held on May 31 and June 1, organisers say it will also kickstart celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend.
In a brand new one-off exhibit, visitors will be able to walk through 70 years of Suffolk history exploring communications, construction, transport, energy, agriculture, arts and fashion, food and drink, technology, education, sport and many more aspects of daily life through the ages.
The Suffolk Show will also host a celebratory Jubilee Pageant, with performances from the Red Devils, the British Army parachute display team.
Other new attractions around the Showground include a Superheroes Ring, which will shine a light on the county's emergency services.
And the show will also see many familiar favourites back for the first time in two years, such as free high-energy activities in the Sports Zone, mighty machinery in the Military Zone, hands-on animal experiences in the Farm Discovery Zone, and stunning displays in the Glasswells Flower and Garden Experience.
The Suffolk Show, which attracts around 90,000 visitors over two packed days each year, is a huge celebration of the county with food, farming and agriculture.
This year, parking at the Suffolk Show will be free and children under the age of 15 will receive free entry.
Early bird tickets are now on sale at £26.50 per adult - tickets will be £28.50 per adult if purchased after May 21 and £30 per adult on the gate, while young people between 15 to 18 will cost £7.50.
Organisers say they will be complying with all Covid guidance from the Government at the time, with the show layout enhanced to offer more space for visitors.
