A14 Orwell Bridge speed limit reduced to 40mph while Met Office's weather warning for wind is in place




A 40mph speed limit will be in place on part of the A14 this evening, with high winds due to batter the county.

A yellow weather warning for wind is in place across Suffolk throughout today until 9am tomorrow.

As a result, the Orwell Bridge near Ipswich will remain open but drivers will be forced to slow down to almost half the national speed limit.

Highways England said there would be another wind risk period tomorrow from 10am until 2pm but that it was hoping to keep the bridge open under the reduced speed limit.

A spokesman said: "Please ensure you drive to the speed limits."
