Work to build new link road between Europa Way and Bramford Road, in Ipswich, gets under way
A seven month project to build a new link road in Ipswich is now under way.
From now until the end of April 2025, Suffolk Highways will be conducting work to extend Europa Way, joining it with Bramford Road.
Once complete, they will be connected by a mini roundabout and will include a new footpath and cycleway.
A spokesman for Suffolk County Council said mobilisation and preparation work began today.
Larger works are expected to commence next week, he said.
The scheme aims to increase connectivity between Bramford Road and Sproughton Road.
Suffolk County Council hoped this would ease congestion in the area, which can get busy during peak hours, while mitigating traffic through residential streets.
The work will be carried out across six phases and will use various traffic management methods for each, including temporary traffic lights and pedestrian crossing points.
Temporary parking restrictions will also be in place along part of Bramford Road.
A road closure could be installed toward the end of the works if deemed necessary, but full details will be confirmed at a later date.
