Suffolk's most dangerous neighbourhoods revealed including Lowestoft, Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket according to August 2023 police crime figures




Thousands of crimes are reported to police in Suffolk each month, including anti-social behaviour, burglary and violent offences – but where are the worst hotspots for recorded crimes in the county?

Figures collated by SuffolkNews reveal some of the most dangerous areas in the county, based on the number of crimes reported in the latest month which has data available – August.

Below you can search for your street to find out if Suffolk Police have logged any crimes in your neighbourhood, and we also reveal how many crimes have been reported in some of the county's biggest towns.

Within the three policing neighbourhoods in Ipswich - Central, East and West - there was a total of 1,487 crimes reported in the month.

Violence and sexual offences were the most frequent type of crimes reported within the three areas, with a total of 585.

In Lowestoft, 617 crimes were reported in August, the most common of which were violence and sexual offences, with 237 during the month, followed by 123 reports of anti-social behaviour.

Ipswich West recorded the next highest total of crimes, with 590 reported, 220 of which were violence and sexual offences.

In Ipswich Central there were 502 in total, which was made up of 184 violence and sex offences and 65 shoplifting reports, amongst others.

August saw 466 crimes reported in Bury St Edmunds. Home Office data reveals there were 163 violence and sexual offences and 72 reports of anti-social behaviour.

Ipswich East was the next highest area for crime, with a total of 395 crimes recorded in the area, 128 of which were violence and sexual offences.

In Stowmarket, 297 crimes were reported in the month of August - 111 were violence and sex offences and 50 were anti-social behaviour.

In Sudbury, there were 228 crimes reported, data from the Home Office revealed, along with 222 in Haverhill and 202 in Felixstowe.

Hadleigh was next with 184, while there were 183 crimes reported in Woodbridge.

Police data shows there were 175 crimes recorded in the Newmarket area, while Leiston had 132, Mildenhall had 129, Beccles and Bungay had 126 and Brandon had 118.

Halesworth had 73 crimes while Eye had the fewest with 48.
