The Oaks Primary School in Ipswich, which has Outstanding rating, maintains standards, Ofsted says




An Ipswich primary school where pupils strive for excellence has retained its high standards after its first Ofsted visit in six years.

Inspectors praised the ‘complete human strategy’ at The Oaks Primary School, in Aster Road, which they felt promoted students’ physical and mental well-being. It visited the school on October 22.

There were also more pupils with speech, communication or language needs on its roll than during its last inspection in September 2018, as well as pupils who speak English as an additional language.

The Oaks was rated as outstanding when Ofsted last visited.

Lead inspector Mireille MacRaild felt the school ensured pupils were articulate and confident.

The curriculum also was enriched with trips to inspire pupils to broaden their interests and talents, she said.

Well-planned professional development helped with the school’s ambitious vision and curriculum, the report stated.

In addition, its early years was also praised by inspectors. Ms MacRalid said children at The Oaks had a fantastic start to their education.

Ms MacRalid also highlighted pupils’ ‘exemplary’ behaviour.

The Oaks, part of Asset Education Trust, takes on pupils aged three to 11.

It had 451 children on its roll at the time of the inspection.
