Fire-hit area of Riverhills Health Club and Day Spa, in Bramford Road, Ipswich, set to reopen after £6m refurbishment
A spa complex devastated by fire nearly two years ago has announced the opening date for its upgraded facilities following a £6 million refurbishment.
Riverhills Health Club and Day Spa, in Bramford Road, Ipswich, was heavily damaged when a huge blaze ripped through it on June 23, 2023.
The fire started in the swimming pool area and about a quarter of the premises needed repairs, including the pool hall, a class studio and the laundry room.
In the eight weeks following the fire, extensive work was carried out to allow members to once again make use of the club area and Riverhill reopened in August of the same year purely as a gym.
Following a complete redevelopment, the fire-damaged area – which had remained closed — is set to reopen to members on Saturday and to the public on May, 5.
Dave Courteen, managing director, said: “Whilst the fire led to a very challenging time, it presented us with an opportunity to create something very special and exciting at Riverhills.
“Our vision was to enhance Riverhills as a leading luxury health and wellness destination for our members and guests.
“As well as upgrading the spa facilities, we have also refurbished the parts of the club that weren’t fire damaged so that every area is now updated and improved.
“We really appreciate the support of our members and staff who have worked so hard to get us to where we are today.”
The spa area now features a large swimming pool, sauna and an aroma steam room as well as nine treatment rooms and a sensory spa garden.
In addition to the spa, Riverhills – owned by Mosaic Spa and Health Clubs since 2021 – has upgraded its changing rooms and restaurant area.
