Escape rooms are a global craze and have been popping up all over Suffolk, so we have found nine of the best for you to pit your wits against this spring.

EO Escape Rooms has five themed rooms: Captive, where players must free themselves from handcuffs and escape before becoming part of a gruesome experiment; Scarlet, where the EOnian tribe needs your help; the mission to complete 'Operation X'; Castaway – the battle to make it on to an island and raise a distress signal before it is too late; and Scary Tale - a trip to dark and sinister woods... but will you escape the woods to tell the tale?
All of EO Escape Rooms' Tripadvisor reviewers have given it the top five-star rating. Many seasoned escape room-ers said EO was the best they had ever experienced, with the most recent reviewer adding: "Lots of puzzles to solve and really a cut above other escape rooms we have completed."

2. Escape Ipswich, The Old Unicorn, Ipswich
Six rooms with wildly different themes are on offer at Escape Ipswich.
The Da Vinci Room focusses on code-breaking, symbolism and association problems; in Contagion players have to defeat a laboratory lockdown to retrieve a vaccine; in the Taken Room the aim is to rescue hostages from a serial killer's grasp; Casino Heist asks teams to break codes, solve puzzles, find clues and escape with all the chips; Sub Zero is set on HMS Unicorn, an old submarine on its final voyage when the generators fail – can you get them back online and save the crew?; while Locked In sees players trapped in a haunted pub.
Escape Ipswich has attracted rave reviews on Tripadvisor, including 135 five-star ratings out of 152 reviews. One of the most recent reviewers said: "I work at an escape room too so I know how it's all meant to work and it ran as smoothly as can be," while other players praised the staff and the rooms themselves.

3. Suffolk Escape Room, Leiston Road, Saxmundham
Suffolk Escape Room is located in original wartime Nissen Huts on the edge of an American-style trailer park. It offers two escape rooms: Superbugs and Air Raid.
In Superbugs the future of life on earth is at risk due to an antibiotic-resistant Superbug which is fast spreading across the planet, but your mission to collect rare insects from a professor's research facility could save the human race.
Meanwhile, in Air Raid players players are trapped in a World War Two air raid shelter and must use their skills to find a way to escape.
Tripadvisor reviewers have praised the mix of puzzles and fun equipment, alongside the rooms' clever and 'unique aspects' – all but one of the 63 reviewers left a five-star rating.

4. Escape Rooms Suffolk, Harlequin Park, Kenny Hill
There are three rooms on offer at Escape Rooms Suffolk: The Dollhouse, The Vault and The Church.
In horror experience The Dollhouse, a deranged killer with an obsession for dolls and mannequins is on the loose. You and your team-mates have been chosen as his next subjects so you must work together for your freedom or become part of the collection. The Vault sees players tasked by MI6 to steal five internationally-prized artifacts. Finally, The Church places players on a tour of the graveyard at St Kenny's Church, which has been locked up for years. However, all is not as it seems...
Escape Rooms Suffolk has been reviewed 336 times on Tripadvisor, with 332 giving it five stars. Reviewers have commented on the fun, friendly and well-thought out experience.

5. Prestige Escape Rooms, High Street, Lowestoft
'All around an awesome experience' is how Prestige Escape Rooms has been described on Tripadvisor, where all but three reviewers rated the experience five stars.
The Lowestoft attraction offers four rooms: Saving Wonderland; Amnesia; Jungle Escape and The Z Files.
In Saving Wonderland players must fine a stolen magic ingredient to help save Wonderland before it disappears altogether; Amnesia players must figure out who they are, where they are and how they got there to have any chance of escaping; Jungle Fever will see players heading into the jungle and working together to discover the secret, or be stuck there forever; while in The Z Giles you become a secret agent tasked with helping Boulder and Gully with a missing person case.

6. The Evidence Room, Risbygate Street, Bury St Edmunds
The Evidence Room opened in 2018 and offers two immersive escape rooms.
First to launch was The Gedding Room, a treasure hunt-style game where players and a team of detectives hunt for evidence to convict a 1960s mobster, while the Aztec Room sees teams imprisoned in the temple of a rival Aztec tribe where they await sacrifice unless they can find a way to escape.
The Evidence Room has been reviewed 66 times on Tripadvisor, with 57 people giving it the top rating.
They have described The Aztec Room as having some elements like the Crystal Maze, while the staff also came in for high praise.
One reviewer said: "The young lady who introduced us to the Aztec Room was engaging and fun and really helped to make it an enjoyable experience."

7. Sudbury Escape Rooms, Gainsborough Street, Sudbury
Sudbury Escape Rooms opened its Eerie Motel California room in January to rave reviews.
And if the title of its Eerie Motel California room doesn't get you humming, your brain will soon be buzzing as you put yourself in the shoes of husband and wife criminals Miles and Judith Russell, who hid the Ragfellow Diamond at Route 66's 'Fabulous Eerie Motel' while running from the Mafia.
Players will find themselves in the hotel's lobby with one hour to crack the puzzles and find the diamond.
Eerie Motel California opened in January and has received rave reviews, with 13 reviewers on Tripadvisor giving the experience five stars.
Comments so far have included: "Amazing game, amazing team. Absolutely loved playing Eerie Motel and can’t wait to go back," and: "This room was without doubt the funniest we have done with lots of comedy."

8. Suffolk Escape Academy, Church Road, Barrow
Barrow's Suffolk Escape Academy's The Next Great Detective room will very soon be joined by another. But until then, Next Great Detective players have to find the whereabouts of Sherlock Holmes with only a text message from the Great Detective to offer any clues.
Comments on Tripadvisor have included: "I took my 70-year-old, but young-at-heart mother and she had a ball," while another recent reviewer said: "We've done over 20 escape rooms and always enjoy them and this was no exception."
Teams of two-six players can take part, with the experience costing £20 per person.

9. Ipswich Escape Rooms, White House Road, Ipswich
Do you have what it takes to escape the mysterious locked rooms on offer at Ipswich Escape Rooms?
Participants will head to Prague for both experiences: 'The Secret Clubhouse' or Search for the Holy Grail'.
In Search for the Holy Grail, two-six players will spend an hour trying to find the secrets hidden in a famous painting – namely the location of a hidden treasure.
Meanwhile, The Secret Clubhouse will see participants trying to find an inventor's puzzle and the secret it hides before a masked man returns.
