NatWest to close Ipswich branch at Ransomes Europark by end of year
A NatWest outlet is set to become the latest loss for Suffolk as it makes plans to close by the end of the year.
NatWest’s branch at Ransomes Europark, in Ipswich, will close on November 8, 2023, after a 56 per cent reduction in transactions in since 2019.
In a letter sent to customers, the bank revealed it was used by zero personal customers on a regular basis during 2022 – while 196 businesses regularly used it throughout the year.
Also during 2022, 78 per cent of personal customers used online banking or the NatWest mobile app in addition to using a physical branch.
The closest outlet to Ransomes Europark is in Tavern Street, in the town centre.
In addition, there are also outlets in Colchester and Sudbury.
The firm said it would continue to support customers in vulnerable situations, and support specialists will make phone calls in the coming weeks to offer advice and solutions.
The NatWest branch follows the same fate as other banks in Mildenhall, Sudbury, Haverhill and Newmarket.
Barclays in Haverhill will close on September 8, while another branch in Sudbury closes tomorrow.
Halifax is also closing in Newmarket’s Market Street.
This comes after use by customers dwindled.
