Met Office issues yellow weather warning for most of Suffolk as it warns of flooding




Forecasters have warned there could be a chance of flooding across Suffolk after they issued a yellow weather warning.

The Met Office have said heavy showers could cause travel disruption and flooding across much of the county until 8pm, with forecasters putting the warning in place for Bury St Edmunds, Lowestoft, Ipswich, Felixstowe, Sudbury, and Needham Market.

The alert has warned people that bus and train services could be affected, and spray and flooding on roads is likely to make journey times longer.

Newmarket and Mildenhall escape the warning, but forcasters have said there is a good chance of rain from 5pm.

Tomorrow Newmarket's July Course, which will see top sprinters from Britain, Ireland and beyond do battle over six furlongs in the July Cup, one of the most valuable and prestigious horseraces in Britain, is expected to avoid the rain unlike most of the county.

Elsewhere in Suffolk rain is expected to move across the county from around 10am.

But in good news for football fans Sunday looks set to be dry for most of Suffolk with highs of 19c in Ipswich, 20c in Newmarket, and 18c in Felixstowe just before kick off.
