Gavin Bultitude from Ipswich issued with five-year sexual risk order after Suffolk Police investigation

A 57-year-old man has been issued with a five-year Sexual Risk Order following an investigation by Suffolk Police.

Gavin Bultitude, from Ipswich, appeared before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 2, where he was made subject to a SRO for five years, which will be overseen by the constabulary’s Public Protection Unit.

The civil order, which was granted by magistrates, is the first of its kind to be made in the county under the new Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022.

The application was made following an investigation by detectives. The Church of England in Suffolk has since issued a statement as Bultitude held one of its most senior posts.

No criminal charges were laid, but a decision was taken to apply for a SRO.

Under the order there are restrictions on his use of the internet and computer software, as well as contact with children.
