Ipswich man Rhys Burroughs charged with murder following 2018 death of pensioner Clive Wyard




An Ipswich man has been charged with the murder of a pensioner who was found collapsed on his driveway in 2018.

Clive Wyard, 74, was found unconscious outside his Valley Road home in Ipswich at around 7.15am on July 20 almost three years ago.

He had injuries to his head and face, including black eyes, a split frenulum lip and a cut lip. He also had a deep cut on his cheek and other cuts on his body.

He was taken to Ipswich Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries 12 days later.

A post mortem examination found the cause of death to be a severe head injury, which caused a skull fracture and a brain bleed.

Rhys Burroughs, 34, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court today where he was formally charged with murder and attempted robbery.

Burroughs, previously of Colchester Road, Ipswich, is due to appear in Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, August 6.
