A spokesperson for Network Rail said the situation was resolved at around 8.20am.

The bridge suffered some damage, but nothing that prevents trains running, they added.

Normal rail service resumed at 9.30am.

After being arrested, the man was taken to hospital so blood tests could be conducted.
