BMW driver arrested after serious crash on A12 sees woman airlifted to Ipswich Hospital




A driver who suffered leg injuries in a serious head-on car crash on the A12 has been arrested.

Police were called shortly after 5.15pm yesterday to the scene of a two-car crash, involving a black BMW and a grey Vauxhall Corsa, on the A12 between Yoxford and Kelsale.

The driver of the Corsa, a woman aged in her 60s, was airlifted to Ipswich Hospital after having suffered life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesman said she is still in a critical condition.

The driver of the BMW, a man aged in his 20s, sustained minor leg injuries and was taken to hospital for assessment.

He has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was remanded in custody.

The crash saw the road closed in both directions while emergency services attended to those involved. It has now reopened.

Police are now asking witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 312 of April 21.
