The Club nightclub in Ipswich thanks community and firefighters after building roof blaze
A town centre nightclub has thanked the community for its support following a fire on the roof of its building.
Fire crews were alerted to the incident at 6.36pm on Thursday with a blaze on the roof of the building that houses The Club in Ipswich.
A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said six firefighters used breathing equipment, alongside two hose reel jets plus a covering jet to dampen the flames.
Multiple police and fire units attended the scene in Arcade Street and Lion Street.
A spokesperson for The Club said on social media: “Dear friends, from the bottom of our hearts, a huge thank you to each and every one of you for your messages, support, and kind words.
“It’s truly incredible to feel so much love and care from our amazing community.
“A special appreciation goes out to our heroes - the firefighters - who responded quickly and professionally, ensuring everything was under control with no major damage.
“Their dedication and hard work were outstanding, and we are beyond grateful for their service.
“But nothing can stop us. We are already working hard to redesign and bring back the venue even better, more energetic, and hotter than ever (in the right way this time).”
The nightclub also said they will be back soon with a new identity called ESCAPE.
