Trebor Developments and Hillwood to develop land at Ipswich’s Eastern Gateway park, off A14, to join Amazon and La Doria
Two property giants have acquired a large lot of land at an industrial estate on the outskirts of Ipswich.
Trebor Developments and Hillwood bought an eight-acre site at Eastern Gateway, which sits opposite junction 54 of the A14 at Sproughton.
The pair plan to develop the site, which will allow new businesses to join Amazon and La Doria, which are already located at the business park.
Greg Dalton, Trebor’s development director, said Ipswich was a key industrial and logistics hub for the East of England.
The firm purchased the land from Ipswich Borough Council, which runs the site.
He said: “We look forward to investing in much needed new industrial product for this area, delivering all five units on speculative basis.”
Trebor was granted planning permission in August last year to build five warehouses at the site.
Construction firm Magrock was chosen as the main contractor, and development will begin later this month, and could finish in the first half of 2024.
The site’s development could lead to the creation of as many as 350 jobs, Mr Dalton added.
Cllr Neil MacDonald, the leader of Ipswich Borough Council, said the sale was a great outcome for Ipswich.
He added: “Eastern Gateway is a prime area of developable land and, by taking on this site, Ipswich Borough Council has unlocked the potential of this land.
“We have been successful in our aims to stimulate investment, encourage job creation, and bolster the local economy.”
