Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park, near Ipswich, among winners at Norfolk and Suffolk Tourism Awards in Norwich
A popular wildlife park, a boatyard and a holiday home are among the winners celebrating major tourism award wins.
A total of 11 businesses have taken the crown at Visit East of England’s Norfolk and Suffolk Tourism Awards.
They picked up their awards at a ceremony in Norwich Castle this evening, hosted by TV presenter David Whiteley.
Here are the winners from Suffolk:
Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park of the Year – Hippersons Boatyard
Taking the win in this sector is Hippersons Boatyard, based on the River Waveney, outside Beccles.
Judges praised its ‘warm and welcoming’ atmosphere and the fact its team went ‘above and beyond’ to ensure guests felt at home.
The boatyard offers stays in houseboats, guided tours, paddleboarding lessons and more.
Experience of the Year – Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park
Up next is this popular wildlife park outside Ipswich.
Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park, in Wherstead, was highlighted as being ‘immersive, well-structured, and undeniably memorable’.
The site, owned by TV presenter Jimmy Doherty, houses a rare breeds farm, a zoo, including a large polar bear exhibit, and a restaurant.
New Tourism Business of the Year – The Miller’s Shed
Up next is this ‘countryside hideaway’ nestled between Beccles and Bungay.
The Miller’s Shed, Barsham, was set up in 2023 and offers a getaway for two in the Waveney Valley.
The judges said: “With glowing five-star reviews, a seamless booking process, and a dedication to supporting the local community, The Miller’s Shed exemplifies excellence in new tourism.”

► Wild With Nature (Shropham, near Attleborough) – Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award
► Titcham Manor – Hotel of the Year
► The Pigs (Edgefield) – Pub of the Year
► North Cottage Cromer – Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year
►Yalm Food Hall (Norwich) – Taste of England Award
► Holkham – Visitor Attraction of the Year
► Fran Hartshorne (The White Horse, Brancaster) – Unsung Hero Award
