Heavy police presence spotted in Carr Street and Northgate Street, Ipswich




A heavy police presence was spotted in Ipswich town centre.

Officers are at the scene of an incident in Carr Street, with police also seen in Northgate Street.

A number of cars have pulled up outside the Santander bank.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police said the incident was a drug raid.

Officers attended this morning on a warrant at an address in Carr Street, he said.

Eyewitnesses reported armed police and dog units descending on the area.

One person at the scene said officers were searching shops further down the street.

Police are expected to remain for some time while investigations continue, the spokesman added.
