Undergrowth blaze at Pipers Vales, off Sandy Hill Lane, Ipswich, treated as suspected arson

A blaze which has affected half an acre of gorse and undergrowth is being investigated as suspected arson.

Suffolk Fire and Rescued was alerted to Pipers Vales in Ipswich at 3.44pm yesterday following reports of a fire in the open off Sandy Hill Lane.

No casualties were reported and by 6.12pm the crews had scaled back and were damping down.

Suffolk Police was also at the scene after being called by the fire service at 4pm.

A police spokesperson confirmed today that the incident is being treated as suspected arson and inquires are under way.
