10 acre crop blaze in Bentley near Ipswich sees 10 crews attend




Firefighters are dealing with a large field fire that broke out in a village.

Crews were called to the crop blaze in Bergholt Road, Bentley, which is south of Ipswich, at 12.10pm.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said 10 acres of crops, bushes and forestry are alight and uneven ground is making it difficult to tackle the blaze.

There are 10 engines attending the incident from across Suffolk and some from Essex.

Suffolk County Council said there were also overhead power cables near the area.

Residents have been urged to avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed.
