Suzy Lamplugh's family call for police to question Suffolk Strangler Steve Wright about estate agent's 1986 disappearance
The family of Suzy Lamplugh have called for Suffolk Strangler Steve Wright to be questioned about her disappearance more than 35 years ago.
Estate agent Suzy was just 25 years old when she left her London office to meet a client called 'Mr Kipper' in July 1986. She was never seen again.
Now, her family have said they want Wright, who worked alongside and apparently flirted with Suzy on the QE2 luxury cruise liner, investigated in connection with her disappearance.
Suzy's brother Richard, 61, told the Sunday Mirror: "I don't see any reason why police couldn't speak to Wright about Suzy's murder.
"They are trying to solve another case and are probably concentrating on that one.
"But if Wright has been linked, if the police thought it was relevant, then it would be worthwhile."
Wright, who is said to have commonly used the word 'kipper' to mean face, was told in 2008 that he'd spend the rest of his life behind bars for the murders of five women in Ipswich in 2006.
He was also arrested last month on suspicion of murdering Trimley St Mary teenager Victoria Hall in 1999. He was released without charge.
Police have previously named serial rapist and murderer John Cannan is a prime suspect in Suzy's disappearance, but he has never admitted any involvement.
"Whether it's Cannan or Wright, I don't know," said Richard.
"What's difficult is not knowing where she is. It would be lovely to find her. To have somewhere where we could scatter her ashes."
