When is it?

The event is scheduled to take place on February 20.

Anyone wishing to take part should arrive at the University of Suffolk’s waterfront building from 4pm, where there will be a banner making workshop.

From 6pm, there will be two speeches before the march kicks off at 6.15pm.

What is the event?

Reclaim The Night is supposed to shine a light on domestic and sexual violence and how they are never acceptable.

What is the route?

The route will take participants from the waterfront, down St Peter’s Street, before joining St Nicholas Street, Queen Street, Princes Street and then the Cornhill.

The parade is expected to arrive at the Cornhill at 7pm, where more speeches are planned.

A candlelit vigil in memory of those killed by domestic or other types of violence will be held.

What age do you have to be?

Under 18s are welcome at the event, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Katie Pickard, president of the SU and one of the event organisers, said: “The route has been chosen as a familiar one to students walking from the university into town, so we can shine a light on some of the safety issues faced by those people on campus as well as those faced by women and girls more generally.

“We are looking forward to a really positive event, and hope to see plenty of people joining with us to make their voices heard.”

Previous Reclaim the Night marches took place in Ipswich in December 2023, as well as the year prior.
